BIG BEAR RESORT

A SHORT DRIVE TO THE CLOSEST WORLD AWAY
So close to home … yet light years from the grind!  That’s your easy access alpine vacation in Big Bear Lake.

In just a short drive for a quick daytrip, refreshing weekend getaway or lazy extended vacation, Southern California’s favorite outdoor playground and relaxation haven offers every amenity and activity for winding down the stress and winding up the fun.

The scenic drive up the mountain through pine and oak forests exchanges the city’s concrete jungles into your own personal vacation world. Soon, you’re at the crest 7,000 feet above sea level. Aaaaahhhhhh!

Inhale the fresh, pine-scented air.  Take in the expanse of the enormous lake.  Get out of the car and take a walk.  Feel the cool mountain breeze. Look up: nothing but blue skies.  Is that a Bald Eagle soaring overhead?

Relax.  Enjoy.  You’re in Big Bear Lake.

Big BearWINTER
In the winter Big Bear offers a variety of choices for every activity level. Get a lift up to the summit and hit the slopes on a snowboard or skis while you enjoy the panoramic vistas. Kids will love tobogganing or tubing down the slopes. Later, take a stroll through the naturally flocked forest. Spend quiet moments lounging in a hot tub after an active day. Perhaps curling up next to a warm fire with a good book and a hot beverage is more enticing. Whatever the preference, you’ll enjoy the snowcapped peaks and discovering just what this resort has to offer.

SPRING
The spring is a great time to visit one of the richest woodland regions in Southern California. The clear skies and crisp air will reinvigorate even the most exhausted. Glimpse nature as it awakens after a long winter during bird watching, horseback riding, or wildflower walks. It is also the perfect time to enjoy the climb on a mountain trail or to pedal a bike around the lake. Don’t forget to indulge in spa services or to browse through the quaint bookstores and shops.

SUMMER
Get outdoors and leave the heat and smog behind! Spend time on the golf course or drop by one of the many marinas and schedule a day out on the lake on a boat, or in a canoe or kayak. Big Bear Lake is popular for fishing but don’t forget about the hiking, biking, and camping. Roast a few marshmallows at a camp fire, explore the night sky, and participate in the many unique programs offered by local naturalists and other experts.

FALL
The brisk air and colorful leaves highlight the change of season and excitement fills the air during the fall festivities. Plan a picnic under the fall foliage and take in the spectacular hues of crimson, pumpkin, and amber. Venture over to Oktoberfest and join the party as you learn the Chicken Dance. Take a flashlight safari at the zoo, mingle with creative types at the Big Bear International Film Festival, or mosey over to the Cowboy Gathering for the best Western music and poetry in the country.
