California Theatre of the Performing Arts
Recently registered as a historic landmark, the California Theatre of the Performing Arts is the Inland Empire’s Premier Theatre featuring first class national tours, exquisite San Bernardino Symphony performances, spectacular concerts with Maestro Carlo Ponti, Jr. and lively ballet presentations.

Performances such as Wizard of Oz, Riverdance, and My Fair Lady take place in this 1,700-seat theatre, one of just three such remaining movie theaters in the nation.  Opened in 1928 as a vaudeville and movie palace, the theater features lavish Spanish colonial style architecture and interior with beautiful inlays, chandeliers, sweeping staircases, tapestries and ornate sculptured moldings, both inside and out.  Will Rogers gave his last performance here in 1935 before his untimely death, and it is celebrated on the exterior with two 68-foot murals by the world famous artist Kent Twitchell.

Also unique to the Theatre is its Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, the only one in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to reside in its original location.  The organ is still played today in silent film programs.

Sturges Center for the Fine Arts
Explore the magic of the newly renovated Sturges Theatre located in Theater Square, just a few blocks north of the California Theatre of the Performing Arts.   Named after educator David Brainard Sturges, the Sturges Auditorium was built in 1927 as an addition to Sturges Junior High School. Today, this beloved cultural landmark seats 715 for performances done by local schools, colleges, community theatres and dance companies.

In the evenings and weekends, the theatre serves a number of organizations to produce pageants and performances such as Jekyll & Hyde, the Musical; Robinhood; and the living legend, Debbie Reynolds.
