Airports

The San Bernardino International Airport

The San Bernardino International Airport Authority (SBIAA) is a sister JPA to the IVDA comprised of the County of San Bernardino, and the Cites of San Bernardino, Colton, Loma Linda, and Highland.  The SBIAA was formed in 1992 and is responsible for the management and oversight of the operations and maintenance of the San Bernardino International Airport.  In 1997, the respective staffs of these two agencies merged.

Since the closure of Norton Air Force Base, a number of infrastructure and airport projects have been completed in preparation for the growing airport, including rehabilitation of the 10,000-foot long concrete runway and state of the art passenger facilities.  The rebuilt terminal facility includes four gates, 2,800 conveniently located parking spaces, baggage handling facilities, and 22 ticket counters.

Million AirIn the summer of 2010, Million Air San Bernardino officially opened its general aviation terminal and hangar complex.  This Fixed Base Operation provides general aviation services to aircraft based at or visiting the airport.  The San Bernardino Airport also provides services that include an air traffic control tower, a fuel farm with the capacity to store 150,000 gallons of Jet-A fuel, and heavy aircraft maintenance and repair operations.

The IVDA and SBIAA have laid a solid foundation for achieving the core mission of effective reuse of the former Norton Air Force Base.  As we move forward, the IVDA and SBIAA will continue to focus on enhancing and revitalizing the landscape of the area to attract a broad array of business enterprise, generate more employment opportunities and develop a higher profile for the entire Inland Valley region.
